Abstract
The AHEAD study was commissioned to look into the future and reveal what the higher education landscape could look like in 2030. The study takes account of technological developments in society, without seeing them as the sole forcedriving future higher education. Rather, it assumes that higher education willchange by 2030 as a result of developments in the following areas: 1) Knowledge and competence requirements from industry and social changes, inan increasingly digitalized world; 2) New developments in didactics, reflecting current discussions in thefield ofdidactics and learning theory; 3) Digital technologies and new ways of using these technologies, which are likely to create new forms of learning and environments for learning.
